LEFTOVERS (WIP)

Over the last four decades, role-playing games and collectible card games have evolved from niche hobbies to a cultural phenomenon, influencing literature, movies and pop culture. From Dungeons and Dragons, Magic: the Gathering to new takes like Pokémon GO, they all share unique elements of interactivity.

Here, strategy meets storytelling, often mirroring - and even shaping - our societal values. While the building sector is one of the prominent contributions of resource consumption in society, remnants from construction, demolition and renovation are often deemed waste rather than resource. Linear demolition culture is threatening cultural and ecological value.

Leftovers is a game that reframes waste as resource and transforms sites of demolition and construction into spaces for play, negotiation, and reuse. Through gamification, it challenges assumptions of value and approaches reuse as a cultural and creative practice rather than a technical necessity.
