Inspired by Tove Janssons book “Anteckningar från en ö”, this project explores freedom, self-expression, and how we interact with our surroundings. At the heart, a handcrafted chair designed to challenge how we normally sit.

Using Sara Ahmed’s concept of Queer Phenomenology the project investigates how bodies navigate the world and how objects in space – like furniture – are oriented to support or restrict our movements. It questions the norms and orientations that determine where, and how, some bodies feel more or less at home.

Rather than being a passive place to rest, the chair invites you to move, play, and find your own way of sitting, alone - or with somebody else.
